How to Plan a Sweet 16 Party
One of the biggest birthdays of all in teenager's life is the "Sweet 16." Whether you are celebrating a sweet 16, or quincinereas, we have several tips and ideas to make your celebration a life long memory.
Choosing the Date
One of the biggest factors in planning a sweet 16 party is narrowing down and choosing the date for the celebration. Remember that most venues cater to weddings, and Saturday is the day that most event locations are the busiest, and also the most expensive. Sunday through Friday could be your safest bet if you are looking to save money. Afternoon events, even on Saturday can get you some great discounts too. Don't be afraid to think outside the box. You will also want to take into consideration holiday weekends like Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day, as many people travel those weekends on vacations and might not be able to attend your event.
Who is Invited?
While the party may be months away, now is still the time that you should start thinking about who you will be inviting and how many guests you intend to have. Make a list of the important people in your life, relatives, friends, family, and co-workers. You will also need to think about how much you will want to spend on your budget for the event. The more guests you plan to invite, the larger your budget will need to be. Send out some "save the date" cards, to your intended guest list, especially if it is months away, this will help your invited guests plan for the special occasion.
Location
Where do you want to hold the party? Once you have the size of your guest list determined, and your date picked, you can find a location for the party. The location that you choose for the event will hinge on a couple of factors, the size of the budget, and the number of guests. While there may be plenty of locations to choose from, if your guest list is substantially large, the venue may not be able to accommodate you. Here is also where you can think outside the box. Have you ever considered holding the celebration in your backyard, or at a private residence? Or at a park?
Have you considered a theme for your Sweet 16 event?
Creating a theme will insure that your sweet 16 party is going to stand out from the rest. There are hundreds of great theme ideas, and many of them also carry their own party supply line for decorations. Some great theme examples include Hollywood Stars, or Rock and Roll from the 50's. Once you decide on a theme, the color scheme for the dcor usually follows along pretty closely.
Your Party Specifics
Most DJ/Entertainment Companies offer some level planning as part of their service. You can stay organized and plan a great event when you utilize their forms, checklists, and planning ideas. These planners include important planning information like, when is your party going to begin? How long will it last? What time will it end? What are you planning to do at your party? What types of music would you like played? Are you planning to provide a meal? The Disc Jockey/Entertainment that you choose for the Sweet 16, is going to be critical to the event's success. Ask your DJ/Entertainer for planning ideas, game ideas, and different activities that you can do to make the event fun, and certainly ask the birthday guest of honor what they would like to do too.
No matter what you decide, planning your Sweet 16 party should be fun, not stressful. It's all up to you, so enjoy it!
